Miss Sara Yonker
Miss Yonker grew up in Holland, Michigan with her family. She attended Holland Public Schools K-12. During high school she ran cross country and track, played volleyball and was part of the band, Students Against Drunk Driving, Dutch Dance, Peer Assistance and Listening, and worked at Old Navy. She attended Central Michigan University where she was a member of Phi Sigma Pi, a Resident Assistant, Foundations of Excellence, and worked in various Residence Life customer service positions. She studied Special Education, Elementary Education, Reading in the Elementary Grades and Athletic Coaching. Sara did a semester of student teaching in Mt. Pleasant Public schools in a 7th grade Special Education Resource room and also a semester in Fremont Public Schools in a 5th grade classroom. She graduated from CMU in May of 2008 and was hired by Bridgman Public Schools to teach 1st and 3rd grade Special Education.
Sara's family includes: her dad who isa newly retired high school Special Education teacher, her mom who is a 3rd grade teacher, her sister, Jenny, who is a stylist at JCPenney Salon, two dogs, Darby and Lola, and many wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins! Spending time with her family is one of Sara's favorite things to do along with spending time with her friends, listening to music, going to concerts, running, relaxing, going to her family's cottage in Fremont, and of course, working with kids!
Sara is very excited to be working for Bridgman Schools and loves working her 1st and 3rd graders and helping them learn and grow!
