Our textbooks are the Chicago Math Series Algebra and Glencoe Geometry books.  An online Geometry book is available...see your student's edition.  You will find the website information inside so your student can get extra help or even just access the book online.  I believe there are also practice tests available to better prepare.

Please open the following link for information and a description of the high school series for Chicago math.  Click on the course that you are interested in on the left side or you can scroll down and it will list chapters and what each one covers:

Secondary

A typical chapter takes anywhere from 2-3 weeks on the block every other day schedule.  A typical chapter entails about 2 sections a day with a quiz after every 3rd and 6th section.  A practice test is given each chapter prior to the test and students are able to use these on the test.  Also, daily example notes are given which students copy and they use these on all homework, quizzes and tests.  Students are expected to keep up as all sections of notes and homework for the whole chapter are copied and handed out at the beginning of each chapter.  Notes are on "A" pages and homework is on "B" pages.  Students are responsible for keeping on track and finding out what they missed when absent.  They have one class period for each day absent to do make up work.  I grade on a total point system where things are not weighted.  Points for quizzes are 100 pts. and tests are 200 pts.  Individual homework assignments vary but are usually around 20-30 points each. We have instituted a "no late work" policy this year and all students unless they have individual exceptions will be expected to adhere to this policy.

NOTE: All students are currently doing review for final exams!  It has been a great year and I have enjoyed having all my students in class!  In Algebra, the exam will cover chapters 7-12.  In Geometry, we are finishing end of year projects due by Monday and the exam will cover chapters 8-12.  Students may use notes on the final exam.

Parents and students are encouraged to go online using the following link and check grades.  They are updated OFTEN and should be up to date.

I believe strongly in an integrated approach to math where we not only use the skills we learn to do lower level questions but also to do applied questions and projects that lead to higher level thinking.  This is what prepares students for future math classes and allows them to link math to real life and use it for applications that will benefit them later.

Michigan has changed the graduation requirements and all students starting with the freshman class of 2007-2008 will take 4 years of math. The following site may be helpful as it shows the H.S. graduation requirements for all subjects:
