Want to help your child with their science education but aren't sure how?  Read these tips and start engaging your child in the world around them!

  • Look for science in the news - as you're reading the news on-line, watching it on TV, or reading the paper, pay attention to any breaking science related news.  It can be as simple as the newly remodeled Hubble Space Telecope.  Take the opportunity to start a discussion the next time your family is together - even if it is in the car ride to soccer practice.
  • Talk about movies that are of a science genre and make sure you see the movie together.  Better yet, if the movie was made from a book, read the book and discuss it and then watch the movie.
  • Notice science everywhere around you and talk about it.  Ask questions like "What would happen if.....?", "How do you think that happened?", and "Do you think it is possible for ......?".

Encourage your child to be inquisitive.  They will become more engaged in the world!
