Drawing Assignment: Basic Forms

Geometric solids we will focus on are the cube, cylinder, cone and sphere.

Objects you see have structure or form based on the cube, the cylinder, the cone, or the sphere. An object may be a combination of four geometric solids. Let say a **solid** is an object that has three dimensions: height, width, and depth.

1. Practice drawing a cube.Draw many cubes, large, medium and small.

2. Establish a light source. Add a shadow on side opposite.

3. Continue with the cylinder, cone and then sphere. Shade curved objects with curved lines that follow the contour of the surface of the object.

4. Make a realistic drawing of a box with a latch, a bottle, a cone-shaped vase, and a baseball. Remember to start with the basic forms.
