Novel Assignment for English 9
Assignment: Each student will be required to read a novel (a minimum of 200pages) outside of class.
Requirements: You must read one book per semester and turn in and present a report on your book. Mrs. Harding must approve your book (first semester only). There will be some days in class when I will give you time to read, so bring your book to class with you.
For the presentation, you will be asked to give a summary of the book, read and discuss the quote you selected, give your recommendation, and share your visual aid. You will also type a written report.
READING REPORT: 60 points
Directions: Once you have finished reading your novel, complete the following report sections. Your final draft must be typed (Times New Roman, size 12), double-spaced.

Part IV: (20 points)
This is your chance to be creative. Create a visual representation of the novel you read. You can paint a picture, make a collage, build a model, etc. Use your imagination! Your project must include the title of the book and the author. Projects will be displayed in the room.
PRESENTATION: 40 points
4. Share and explain your visual (10 points).
Write your recommendation down before the presentation.
Your report must be turned in on the due date even if you are not in school. If you are sick you need to have someone drop it off or you can e-mail it to Mrs. Harding (jharding@bridgmanschools.com). You will receive a 0/40 for presentation points if you are not here to present.
If your absence is pre-arranged you need to turn your report in before you leave and the presentation points will not be included in your grade.
