The Directors Corner – Mr. Reppart
I have been enthusiastically preparing for this upcoming school year. I have begun a master's program at Southern Oregon University for a Masters in Instrumental Conducting. I have been extremely excited to get back into the classroom to utilize all that I have learned this summer. This fall we have a student teacher from Andrew's University - John Clark. John is a mulit-instrumentalist who is finishing his degree in Music Education. He will be joining all aspects of our instrumental band program here in Bridgman, and we look forward to his contributions in our classrooms and with our students. I look forward to another successful year with the Bridgman band program, and I hope to see you at all of our concerts and performances this year. -Cliff Reppart, Director of Bands |
2009-2010 Band Booster Executive Board

Back Row (l-r): Dave Ravitch –Corresponding Secretary, Cliff Reppart-Band Director, Doug Weingart-Vice President, Michelle Anderson-Past President
As Band Boosters, each year we hold numerous fund-raising activities. The funds raised from these activities are used to support the band in many areas such as: Instructor Assistants, Marching Show Costs, Uniforms, Music, Equipment and Equipment Repairs. Due to cost saving measures necessary at the school board level, the Boosters will also be paying for the buses necessary for the Spirit of Bridgman Marching Band competitions. In addition, the Band Boosters provide a scholarship fund for band students attending summer band camps. The year’s budget includes over $25,000 in support of the RMS & BHS Band Program.
If you want to attend a Band Booster Meeting, they will be held on the following dates:
August 25, 2009
September 22, 2009
October 27, 2009
November 24, 2009
December 15, 2009
The meetings will be held at the
BHS Band Room at 6:30 PM |
Welcome 5th graders
As with all extra activities our kids are involved in, the Band Boosters understand how expensive this can be. So we have ways for band students and/or parents can earn credit for lessons, uniforms and band camps. You can volunteer your time or pre-sell tickets for any Band Booster fundraiser. All credits are deposited into student accounts.
Student accounts are created to allow students to accumulate credits that may be applied to approved and qualified band related purchases. Credit in the Student Account will begin to accumulate, as soon as the student begins his/her band career. Student credits shall roll over from year to year. Students may not share their credits with other students; however credits may be passed onto siblings. Credit in student accounts shall not be available for cash withdrawal. Credits remaining in a graduated senior account revert back to the Band Booster general account, on June 30th, following graduation. |

We Need your help!
$$$$$ We encourage parents and students at all levels, to participate in any way possible. From the time a student begins his/her band career, he/she can begin to accumulate credits that can be used to offset the coast of band trips and uniform costs. Student account credits roll over from year to year. Students may not share their credit with other students, but credit may be passed onto siblings. Students may begin earning credits as early as the fifth grade. Credits in student accounts are not available for cash withdrawal. The rate of credit for the 2009-2010 fiscal year will be 25% and the hourly credit will be 2 per hour worked at credit earning opportunities such as: Market Day, various work projects, concessions, fundraising (spaghetti dinner tickets, cookie dough sales, etc.). Please contact any board member for more information. $$$$$

Volunteers Needed!!!!! |
The Band Boosters is in dire need for volunteers to help support student activities associated with the band. The following is a list of Volunteers needed immediately. Please help us in order for us to bring in revenue to support the needs of the band throughout the year.
Tailgate Dinner Chairperson: The Tailgate Dinner will be held on Friday September 25, 2009. We desperately need a person or two to chair this event. Please let Ken Pinkowski or a Board Member know if you can support.
Head Band Aide: We previously called this position the “Band Mom,” but this inadvertently left out Band Dad’s, so we changed the name in order let Band Dad’s volunteer for this position. The Job description is - Be in the band room before and after performances to assist students. Traveling as chaperons on trips (more than one person could share this responsibility.)
Band Aides: Equipment re-locators. Getting props and necessary equipment and instruments to and from the field. Pack the truck for trips.
Below is a listing of volunteers that have already committed to helping support the BHS Band. Please look over this list and let us know which activities you would like to chair. |

A Special Thanks
Each year in August, the BHS band spends a week together at some location to get to know each other, work on learning new marching music, and learning the new steps for the half time shows. Band camp does not just happen on its own, many long and exhausting hours go into the planning, executing, and wrap up each year. This year is no exception. I would like to thank the following people for taking time out of the summer to help make band camp a success.
Mr. Hutfilz, who supported the band by coming out to watch the band in action as often as his schedule would allow. Mrs. Allen, who even though she was very busy, helped get whatever was needed to keep band camp going. Mr. Jackson and his staff who were very accommodating but were also genuinely interested in the band. Mr. Reppart for being patient with our students and teaching them the show for this year. Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Kading, and Mrs. Weingart who cooked our meals for us. Mrs. Ott, Mrs. Bicker, Mrs Sankey, Mrs. Lewkowitz, Mrs. Werk, Mr. Pinkowski, Mrs. Rochefort, and Mrs. Ravitch who helped the cooks. Mrs. Pinkowski, the Totzkes, Mrs. Ott, Mrs. Koth, Mrs. Werk, Mrs. Quardokus, Mrs. Bullock, Mrs. Sankey, and Mrs. Willeman for taking the time to make all the delicious desserts and treats for the students to enjoy. Mrs. Strebeck and Mr. Weingart for chaperoning the overnight stays at BHS. Mr. Weingart and crew for erecting the scaffolding for Mr. Reppart to teach and the canopy to rest under.
But most of all to Mrs. Anderson for all her hard work that she did up front from planning band camp to making the sure that lunches and dinners were provided, and that Mom’s were contacted to help make snacks for the students. Mrs. Anderson did so much to make this band camp a success and we all appreciate her for being there for the students.
