F.C.
Reed Middle School- From the Principal
November
2007
The
phrase “busy as a bee” describes how the students,
staff and parents
have
started the school year at F.C. Reed. From the opening
days of the
Back
to School BBQ, to the homecoming parade, two sports seasons
coming
to an end, classroom events and field trips, we have filled
many
activities
into the first two months of school. Many of these
events would
not
be possible without you, the parents, who have donated time,
food,
ideas,
and encouragement to the students and staff. Thank
you for
making
a difference with your support.
Academically,
the rigorous MEAP testing is complete and teachers have
returned
to their grade level curriculum. I am proud of the
dedication of
our
students and the seriousness they placed on the test. I
know they did
their
best, and we anxiously await the results in mid-January.
November
brings the end of the first marking period and parent-teacher
conferences! It
is our goal to see 100% of our parents! Please
return
the
conference time slip so the office can schedule an appointment
with
our
child’s teacher. Encore teachers will be available
to meet with you on
a
walk-in basis. If you are unable to attend the regular
scheduled
conferences,
please call your child’s teacher to schedule an alternative
time
to discuss your child’s progress. Report
cards will be handed out
to
you at the conferences and will not be mailed home (until
after
conferences).
We
ask that all of you help us with a matter that has become
somewhat
of
a problem here at school. Students involved in sports
or other activities
that
do not begin immediately after school have been staying for
a half an
hour
or more waiting for their practice or game to begin. These
students are
not
supervised and this puts a burden on our after school staff
who are
responsible
for other programs. Please have your student go home
after
school
and return when his/her coach or sponsor is here to supervise.
Student
safety is our utmost concern.
Please
visit bridgmanschool.com frequently for school news and
opportunities!
I
hope all of you have a wonderful fall season,
Lori
