F.C. Reed Middle School- From the Principal

Principal Notes….

From the Principal…..

With November behind us and the first quarter grades handed out, it brings us to probably one of the busiest months of the year.  That said, please check the calendar –we have a band concert coming up for our sixth and seven/eighth grade bands, field trips and many boys basketball games.  You can also stay up to date by reading our daily announcements posted on the F.C. Reed homepage of bridgmanschools.com.  These are all important dates for our students.

You may recall in my back to school letter that my goal for the school year was to focus on school bullying and begin programs to improve student relationships.  I am excited to inform you that in October, the entire staff at Bridgman Public Schools participated in a day-long workshop presented by Marcia McEvoy, Ph.D.  Dr. McEvoy is an expert in school bully and violence prevention.  She has trained our teachers and staff members on how to recognize and deal with bullying behavior.

The staff at F.C. Reed is currently using these skills to develop a definition of bullying and a behavior rubric that fits our needs and those of our students.  You will receive a letter in December which will outline our anti-bullying policy and behavior/consequences rubric.  I appreciate your support as we all work together to make F.C. Reed and even better place to work and learn.

Lastly, I would like to thank all the parents who joined us for our November Parent-Teacher conferences.  We were very happy to see the large turnout.  Your attendance at conferences helps to send the message to your son or daughter that his/her progress and performance at school is important to all of us.

Enjoy the holidays

Mrs. Graves
